Ingredient guide
Kojic acid comes from fungi used in fermenting rice for sake and soy sauce. It is one of the most widely used skincare ingredients for a brighter, more even-looking complexion.
Kojic acid is used to help even out the look of dark spots and uneven tone. In a wash-off soap it works gently and gradually — think weeks of steady use, not days — and it pairs well with a polishing ingredient like coffee that lifts dull surface skin.
Used as directed, kojic acid soap suits many people, but it can irritate sensitive skin. Patch test, start slowly and stop if your skin reacts.
Any change in the look of skin tone is gradual — give it several weeks of regular use, together with daily sunscreen.
Go slowly when combining it with strong exfoliating acids or retinoids, as that raises the chance of irritation. If unsure, ask a dermatologist.
